What Could I Possibly Blog About?

Let me tell you.

Many of you are asking yourself,  "who could possibly care what I have to say?"  The answer is, "you'd be surprised!" You can do an internet search on just about any subject and find that someone is already blogging about it. People are even blogging about grilled cheese sandwiches...believe me, I checked it out.

The point of having a blog is to present information from your perspective. You can share your point of view on any subject,  offer an opinion, or prompt your readers to consider using a product or service in a way they hadn't considered before. There is a secondary gain as well. The entire time your readers are on your blog, assuming your blog is well-written and interesting, they are becoming increasingly impressed at your time and commitment to your blog. This shows professionalism and dedication, qualities in a business person they want to do business with, right?

The idea is, you want to keep them intrigued so they'll come back for more.

Let me give you an example. Let's say your name is Tony and you own an auto shop. You've decided to start hosting your own blog but really don't know where to start or what to blog about. Let's say you're running a special on tires next week and you'd like to promote this special without the tired sales pitch..."Hey boys and girls, come on down to Tony's and get yourself 4 new tires at 10% off." Blach!  Here's a better idea. Write an interesting blog that people can relate to and incorporate the tire sale as part of the story.  Here's an example:

I AM SO TIRED OF MY DAUGHTER BORROWING MY CAR

I'm sure all you dads out there can relate to this story. Last Saturday night, my teenage daughter (who just got her license) asked me for my keys again. I knew darned good and well I wasn't leaving the couch after a hard week's work but I really hated to lend her my car again, because every time I do, she does something to it to that will require some repair.

Last Sunday morning, during my routine, post-Saturday night inspection, I noticed my tires were all chewed up. What on earth could she have been doing last night? Did she drive up to the snow with spiked chains? Did she practice parallel parking against a grated curb all night? The truth is, I didn't really want to know what happened the night before. I finally admitted that she deserved her very own car to beat up however she wanted. She could let donuts rot in the backseat and spill coffee all over the dashboard. She could do whatever she wanted to the $400.00 used AMC Gremlin I was going to buy her first thing Monday morning, (as soon as I replaced my tires). One thing I knew for sure was she wouldn't be destroying my car anymore.

If this has happened to you, you should know that Tony's Auto has a tire sale going on all next week. Buy a set of 4 tires and get 10% off. I'll even throw in the coffee and donuts. --Tony

What's great about this blog is it told a short little anecdote about a family incident people can relate to, AND promoted your tire sale. Blogs are powerful! Use them to move your services, products, and events, all while reminding people who you are and that you're still in business.

All you have to do is tell me what you'd like your blog to promote this time around and I'll work with you on some details so I can tell a great story for you.
